Over the past 20 years, with more stringent US regulations in place concerning the use of asbestos and greater awareness of the health effects of the material, many buildings with asbestos problems were abandoned by corporations and left for the government to …

it’s definatly not anything to be worried about. asbestos has a latency period of twenty to fourty years before any sign of damage. it’s not a bad idea to go to a doctor to get a physical every year. if you’re really concerned ask for an x-ray of your lungs and tell the doctor your concerns.

i remove asbestos for a living. unless it is coming up from the ground i’d leave it buried. if it is coming up you need to contact an environmental agency to take care of it properly. since it’s not your property your land lord should be liable for all costs

I got $36.50/hr to wear a suit to do Asbestos removal, no tie though. Also at American Standard the Kiln suits used to be bare fibres to your skin! humans learn slowley….at least the ones we hire to look after us.

Yeah, I think I’d get checked for this. There are law firms that advertise on tv (you’ve probably seen them) and I saw one that has many years experience but it was two names, the B….and Budd. I didn’t catch the first. They say you can take it home on your clothes, even in the washing machine….scary.

I had the number of a large national law firm dealing with lawsuits. I’ll post it when I find it. They can direct one to the right med and get a test. Sue the krap out of the companies!! Those fibers can get on your clothes and your family can get it.

Yeah, you can call one of those big law firms and they can direct you to the proper medical facility for an evaluation. I misplaced it but it’s here somewhere of a large firm been around for 30 years that can help you out. Saw it on tv, called …and Bach or something. If I find it I’ll post it. But man, if you even think you have one of those fibers in you, get to a doc and get your money owed to ya! That stuff gets on clothes, etc. and families can catch it.

I have a lot of compassion for the guys/gals that have removed asbestos. There’s so many companies that don’t follow all proper procedures. The water for the shower isn’t even warm. God bless these people and I pray for those that will fall in later in life cause of the companies that didn’t provide for them properly. They needed jobs and did what they had to do.
